| Anne Bancroft (September 17, 1931 - June 6, 2005) was born Anna Maria Louisa Italiano in the Bronx, New York. Her 1970 television special, Annie: the Women in the Life of a Man, won Bancroft an Emmy Award for her singing and acting. Anne Bancroft was one of a very select few entertainers to win Oscar, Emmy and Tony awards. She was married for four decades to comic moviemaker Mel Brooks.
