| 42nd Street is a musical with a book by Michael Stewart and Mark Bramble, lyrics by Al Dubin, and music by Harry Warren. In July 1980, it premiered at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. After six previews, the Broadway production opened on August 25, 1980 at the Winter Garden Theatre, eventually moving to the Majestic and then the St. James before it finally completed its 3,486-performance run.
"42nd Street" won the 1980 Tony Award for 'Best New Musical' and the 2001 Tony Award for 'Best Musical Revival'.
